A coffee does not justify itself. It imposes itself. Carrera Café was born from a certainty: that the best coffee deserves the best setting. That Petit-Champlain, with its history and character, was the only possible place to serve it properly.
How it all began
Carrera Café was born in Quebec, in the historic Petit-Champlain district, one of the oldest and most beautiful shopping neighborhoods in North America. Its name carries a double reference: the Carrera 911, a symbol of mechanical perfection and Italian elegance, and the Spanish word "carrera" which means race, path, trajectory.
Two ideas that come together: the quest for excellence and movement. A coffee that never stops. A coffee that moves forward. A coffee that always seeks the best bean, the best extraction, the best experience for its customers.
Our manifesto
Every coffee served here is the result of a long journey: a producer who cared for their coffee trees, a roaster who mastered their fire, a barista who knows their extraction. We refuse to cut corners at any stage.
Le Petit-Champlain is not a set. It is a character. Its stones, its alleys, its history are part of the Carrera experience. You don’t drink the same coffee in a shopping mall and in one of Quebec’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
We choose our roasting partners for the traceability and fairness they practice with producers. Brûlerie Rousseau, Tokad, Géogène: houses that share our values throughout the entire chain.
Technical excellence without human warmth is cold. Our baristas are not technicians. They are hosts. Their mission is to make every visit memorable, whether it’s for a three-minute espresso or a two-hour tasting.
Quebec, our home
Carrera Café celebrates Quebec through every pairing on our menu. Organic Charcuterie from Charlevoix, Cheeses from Quebec, Borderon et Fils Bakery: our accompaniments are ambassadors of our terroir.
But our cup opens to the world. Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Brazil: coffee is an excuse to travel without leaving your chair, to understand cultures and geographies through an aroma.
It is this creative tension between Quebec roots and global openness that defines Carrera Café. Like a race car built in a local workshop but racing on circuits all over the world.
Why motor racing
Formula 1 fascinates us for the same reasons as specialty coffee: it is absolute precision elevated to the level of art. A barista calibrating their extraction to the tenth of a gram is like a pit stop mechanic adjusting a suspension to the hundredth of a millimeter.
In both cases: an obsession with performance, a team behind every result, and the human touch that makes the difference between good and exceptional. Carrera Café is pole position in your cup.
