Montmorency Falls in Quebec: complete guide for an unforgettable day
Higher than Niagara Falls, Montmorency Falls are the most impressive natural spectacle in the Quebec region. 12 kilometers from Old Quebec, they deserve their own circuit.
The Falls
Higher than Niagara
At 83 meters high, Montmorency Falls surpass Niagara Falls by 30 meters. A fact that always surprises and gives this waterfall a unique place in Quebec's geography.
83 meters of power
The Montmorency River plunges into the Saint Lawrence in a spectacular curtain of water. The noise is deafening nearby, the mist refreshing. Opposite, the south shore and Orleans Island. An incomparable natural podium.
Montmorency Falls Park
Managed by Sepaq, the park offers complete infrastructure: cable car, suspended footbridges, stairs, lookout points, and dining terraces. A well-arranged circuit to enjoy the spectacle from all angles.
Activities
Fully experience the falls
The Montmorency Falls are not just visited, they are experienced. Cable car, stairs, footbridges, via ferrata: each option offers a unique perspective on the waterfall.
The suspended footbridge
At the top of the falls, a suspended footbridge spans the Montmorency River, offering a dizzying plunging view. The bridge sways slightly under the wind and mist. A sharp turn above the void, the sensation is unique.
The cable car
For the less adventurous, the cable car ensures the ascent and descent with a spectacular view of the falls. On the way up, you discover the 83 meters of progressive height. On the way back, you enjoy the panorama of the Saint Lawrence.
★ To doThe via ferrata
For thrill-seekers, the via ferrata offers a climb along the rock face, roped and secured. A climbing experience accessible to beginners, with a breathtaking view of the falls.
Adventure ❖ AdrenalineAll Seasons
The falls throughout the year
Montmorency Falls are spectacular all year round. Each season reveals a different face of this natural monument, from January ice to the fiery colors of October.
The sugar loaf in winter
In winter, the water spray freezes at the base of the falls and forms a giant ice cone called "the sugar loaf." Quebecers gather to climb this natural mound. A unique winter tradition in the world.
Autumn ablaze
In September and October, the trees framing the falls turn red, orange, and gold. The contrast with the white water is striking. The light of Quebec autumn is a blessing for photographers.
