MENU & SEASONS
The Snack Menu
Between two espressos and a seasonal cocktail, the Carrera Café's aperitif menu invites you to slow down. Crispy focaccia, generous boards, carefully chosen local products. In Petit-Champlain, even the aperitif becomes an experience.
The Homemade Focaccia
Traditional bread, Italian flavor
In the Carrera Café universe, focaccia is not an afterthought. It is a pillar. Crispy on the surface, soft inside, it arrives warm and generous, ready to welcome the season's toppings.
Carrera Focaccia
The recipe is Italian at heart: generous olive oil, fleur de sel, fresh herbs. The crumb is airy, the crust slightly caramelized. It accompanies the boards, serves as a base for seasonal toppings, and is simply enjoyed with a drizzle of oil for purists. Homemade using flour from the Borderon et Fils Bakery.
Market Focaccia
Each season brings its toppings. In summer, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. In autumn, wild mushrooms and melted cheese. In winter, nuts and local honey. A way to make the bread travel according to the local producers' calendar.
The Boards
The art of sharing
A board at Carrera Café is a composition. The products are chosen to complement each other, textures balance, flavors converse. A platter to share, a conversation to start.
Charlevoix Board
The highlight of the menu. Organic charcuterie from Charlevoix, carefully selected by us. Aged dry ham, artisanal sausage, flavored rillettes. Everything is produced in the Charlevoix region, an exceptional terroir two hours from Quebec City. Served with homemade pickles and old-style mustard.
Quebec Cheese Board
Three to five cheeses from Quebec producers, chosen for the diversity of textures and aging. Soft cheese, semi-firm, cave-aged. Accompanied by seasonal jam and roasted nuts. An invitation to explore Quebec’s dairy terroir.
Grand Prix Platter
The full formula, for competitive appetites. Charcuterie from Charlevoix, Quebec cheeses, house focaccia, marinated olives, and marinated vegetables. A platter to share between two or three, perfect for an evening that starts well before the finish line.
The Producers
Behind every product
At Carrera Café, every product has an address. A farm, an artisan, a craft. Here are the producers featured on the menu.
Organic Charcuterie from Charlevoix
The Charlevoix region has been recognized for decades for the quality of its artisanal charcuterie. Producers committed to sustainable farming practices, raising their animals outdoors and producing exceptional pieces. This level of excellence is what Carrera Café chooses to highlight on its platters.
Cheesemakers of Quebec
Since the 1980s, Quebec’s artisanal cheesemaking has experienced a remarkable revival. Dozens of producers across all regions now offer cheeses of a quality comparable to the best European appellations. Carrera Café selects them carefully, rotating according to seasons and arrivals.
Boulangerie Borderon et Fils
The bread that goes with everything. Boulangerie Borderon et Fils carries on a traditional craft with carefully selected flours and long fermentations. Carrera Café’s focaccia owes much to this collaboration, which places the quality of bread on the same level as that of coffee.
Pairings
What to drink with it
The platter calls for the drink. Here’s how to pair them to get the best of both.
Charlevoix Platter and House Cocktail
Salty charcuterie and smoky notes pair perfectly with a Negroni or a Spritz with vermouth. The bitterness of the cocktail balances the richness of the meats. For those who prefer non-alcoholic, an artisanal ginger beer works wonders. To learn more, read our article on Carrera Café cocktails.
Cheeses and Specialty Coffee
The cheese-coffee pairing is less common than cheese-wine, but it offers remarkable surprises. An intense espresso with a creamy soft cheese. A velvety flat white with an aged cheese. The acidity of specialty coffee cleanses the palate between each bite, like a mirrored pairing.
Board and Homemade Mulled Wine
In winter, the combination of charcuterie board and homemade mulled wine is unbeatable. The spices of the mulled wine, notes of cinnamon and anise, resonate with the aromas of dried charcuterie. A pairing that warms you twice, in the glass and on the plate. To learn more about mulled wine, read our article on winter in Petit-Champlain.
The Barista’s Advice
How to Order Your Board Well
Our recommendation: Order the board as a starter, not as a side. It deserves time, to be shared slowly, letting the flavors settle. Pair it with a first glass, then move on to coffee or a cocktail afterward. It’s like a warm-up before the main race.
The Winning Combination
For a complete aperitif in all seasons: Charlevoix board, seasonal focaccia, a glass of choice, and an espresso to finish. This sequence represents the essence of what Carrera Café offers: exceptional local products, in a unique motorsport setting, in the heart of Quebec’s most beautiful neighborhood.
For Groups
For a group of 4 or more, ask for the Pit Stop option: two combined boards, generous focaccia, assortment of drinks. A way to share that fits well with the spirit of Carrera Café, where even the aperitif is experienced like a race moment, as a team and at full speed.
