★ Legend Gilles Villeneuve, the Quebec speedster
Gilles Villeneuve, born in Berthierville in 1950, remains the most legendary figure in Quebec motorsport. Ferrari driver from 1977 to 1982, he marked Formula 1 with his flamboyant style, absolute courage, and qualifying speed. His death at the Zolder circuit in 1982 left a huge void, but his legend has only continued to grow.
Jacques Villeneuve, world champion
Son of Gilles, Jacques Villeneuve followed in his father's footsteps by becoming the Formula 1 World Champion in 1997 with Williams. To this day, he remains the only Canadian crowned Formula 1 World Champion. A record that would make any paddock proud.
