Quebec markets: Old Port Market, farmers' markets, and summer fairs
When summer arrives in Quebec City, markets bloom all over the city. From the Old Port Market to neighborhood markets, local producers display their harvest on colorful stalls. This is where Quebec gastronomy begins, in direct contact with the terroir.
Since 1985
The Old Port Market
The heart of Quebec's terroir in Quebec City
The Old Port Market of Quebec is the benchmark for public markets in the province. Every week, from May to October, it brings together about a hundred producers and artisans offering the best of Quebec's terroir in an exceptional setting facing the Saint Lawrence.
★ Institution
The Old Port Market: 100 exhibitors, one passion ★
Located in the pavilion of the Old Port Market since 1985, this market hosts up to 100 certified producers. Seasonal fruits and vegetables, farm cheeses, artisanal honey, wild berry jams, fresh herbs, sourdough breads, charcuterie, and river fish: each stall is an invitation to explore Quebec's terroir. Its proximity to Saint-Paul Street and its antique shops makes it a major tourist and gastronomic hub.
Producers
The Organic Charcuterie of Charlevoix at the market
The Organic Charcuterie of Charlevoix is one of the stars of the Old Port Market. Their stands offer dry sausages, country pâtés, terrines, and smoked hams made with free-range pigs raised in the Charlevoix region. These exceptional charcuteries are also available in the city's fine grocery stores, notably at J.A. Moisan on Saint-Jean Street.
Cheeses
Quebec cheeses at the market
The Old Port Market is the ideal place to discover Quebec's artisanal cheeses. Cheese makers from Île d'Orléans, Charlevoix, Laurentides, and Lanaudière offer their creations here: creamy bries, aged cheddars, firm raw milk cheeses, and blue-veined cheeses. A tour of the cheese stalls allows you to assemble an exceptional platter.
In the neighborhoods
Neighborhood markets
Neighborhood life in tune with the seasons
Beyond the Old Port Market, Quebec enlivens its neighborhoods with local markets that create connections between producers and residents. Weekly gatherings that bring rhythm and flavor to neighborhood life.

A market that continues the tradition of country fairs in an urban environment.

The Sainte-Foy market
The Sainte-Foy public market offers a selection of regional producers in a more accessible setting for west shore residents. Organic vegetables, local flowers, seasonal berries, and artisanal processed products: this neighborhood market reflects the agricultural richness of the Quebec region. The market schedule
Quebec to the Rhythm of Terroir Seasons
Each season brings its products, flavors, and markets. A calendar to know so you don't miss any appointments with the best of Quebec terroir.
★ Summer
June to August: Garden Abundance
Summer is the queen season of Quebec markets. Strawberries from Saint-Nicolas, raspberries, wild blueberries, peas, beans, zucchinis, various lettuces: the stalls overflow with colors and flavors. The Old Port Market is at its peak in July-August, with record attendance and producers at the height of their season. It is also the time of summer fairs and neighborhood gastronomic events.
Autumn
September to October: Autumn Harvests
Autumn brings squash, apples, pears, grapes, and the last root vegetables of the season. The cideries of Charlevoix and Île d'Orléans offer their new ice cider vintages and fresh musts. Cassis Monna et Filles launches its new harvest products. It is the most colorful season of Quebec markets, with autumn foliage as a backdrop.
Winter
Indoor Markets and Winter Specialties
In winter, some Quebec markets move indoors. The Old Port Market offers a winter version with greenhouse vegetable producers, cheese, cured meats, and processed products. Christmas markets, especially the one in Old Quebec, complete the offer with artisanal creations, spices, chocolates, and festive specialties.
