The Nürburgring Nordschleife is not a track. It’s a living entity. Twenty kilometers and some of asphalt ribbon winding through the Eifel forests in Germany, with 154 turns, extreme elevation changes, and a reputation built on decades of accidents, records, and legends.

The Green Hell

Jackie Stewart nicknamed it "the Green Hell" in the 1960s, and the name has lasted through the decades. At that time, the Nürburgring was the main track for the German Formula 1 Grand Prix. Drivers raced at full speed on a circuit they couldn’t fully memorize, in changing weather conditions, without proper safety barriers.

Niki Lauda was seriously injured there in 1976. This accident sealed the Nürburgring’s fate as an F1 track. But it did not extinguish the fascination with the place. Quite the opposite.

The lap record: a global obsession

Today, the lap record at the Nürburgring has become the benchmark for automotive performance. Every manufacturer wants the best time. Porsche, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Ferrari: they all fight for this particular glory of taming the Green Hell faster than the others.

This obsession with records speaks to us at Carrera Café. It’s the same logic as the barista who seeks the best extraction ratio, down to the tenth of a gram. Perfection is a horizon we pursue without ever truly reaching it. And that’s exactly why we don’t stop.

The Nürburgring is one of the few tracks in the world where the public can drive on the track in a production car. For an entry fee, anyone can take off on the Nordschleife with their own car. This democratization of the legendary track is unique in the world and creates a popular automotive culture like no other.
