Where to eat in Petit-Champlain: the Carrera Café guide
Petit-Champlain is one of the most photographed neighborhoods in North America. But where to eat, where to have a coffee, where to have an aperitif with a view? We give you our point of view, directly, from our spot in the heart of the neighborhood.
Petit-Champlain
The oldest commercial district in North America
Cobblestones, half-timbered houses, art galleries, artisan shops: Petit-Champlain is unique on the continent.
Founded in the 17th century, the Petit-Champlain neighborhood is a UNESCO World Heritage site with Old Quebec. Its cobbled alleys, colorful houses, and direct access to the Saint Lawrence make it one of the most charming places in Canada.
For visitors, the neighborhood is best explored on foot. You descend there from the Upper Town by the funicular or by the famous Breakneck stairs (the oldest wooden stairs in North America), and we climb back up with heavy legs, a light heart, arms full of memories.
For tourists
Petit-Champlain is at its most beautiful in winter under the snow and in summer with the lively terrace. Avoid peak hours between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in July-August if you want to enjoy the neighborhood quietly. Mornings and late afternoons are magical.
Carrera Café
Our spot in the neighborhood
High-end Italian café-bar, car racing universe, exceptional local products. Our offer in the heart of Petit-Champlain.
Carrera Café — Petit-Champlain
High-end Italian café, Quebec charcuterie and cheese platters, house cocktails, mulled wine in winter, terrace in summer. A place that embraces its character and its universe. Here, there is no half-measure.
L'idée derrière Carrera Café est simple: apporter l'élégance d'un café milanais dans le décor heritage of Petit-Champlain, with local products. The world of car racing is not a gimmick. It’s a philosophy: precision, speed, excellence. Every drink, each platter, each cocktail is designed and executed with the same rigor.
The result: a spot that stands out in a neighborhood where charm sometimes outweighs quality. Here, both coexist.
