A perfect day in Old Quebec
From the first espresso of the morning to the last drink of the evening. Old Quebec, built around its establishments and its rituals.
8 AM — Starting Point ★
Morning Espresso — Carrera Café
The machine is hot, the beans are fresh, the first cup is always the best. Rue du Petit Champlain at that hour has something special: calm, bright, almost suspended. It's time to sit down and plan the rest of the day.
9 AM–11 AM
Strolling through the neighborhood
The alleys of Petit Champlain, Place Royale, the banks of the Saint Lawrence. The district is best explored on foot, without a schedule. Artisan boutiques gradually open. So do the galleries.
11 AM–2 PM
Ascending to Upper Town
The funicular or the Breakneck Stairs. Dufferin Terrace, Château Frontenac, the Citadel, the ramparts. Old Quebec within the walls is ideally explored in the morning, before the crowds.
3 PM — Return to Petit Champlain ★
Afternoon Coffee
At Carrera Café, an iced latte or a cold brew in summer, a hot cappuccino when temperatures drop. Afternoon coffee is different from morning coffee: more relaxed, more reflective.
7 PM
Gourmet Dinner
To end the day beautifully, Old Quebec offers some tables worth lingering over. Menus that change with the seasons, quality local products, an atmosphere that matches the city: refined but not stuffy.
