The Summer Festival Pit Stop
The Quebec Summer Festival is ten days of music, crowds, and warmth on the Plains. Before the first note or after the last encore, Carrera Café awaits you in Petit-Champlain.
See the menuJuly in Quebec City is electric. The Summer Festival turns the city into a giant stage for ten days. The Plains, the Loto-Québec stage, the streets of Old Quebec buzzing late into the night: there are few places in the world where summer is celebrated with such intensity.
And at the heart of it all, Petit-Champlain. Just a few minutes’ walk from the Plains, with its unique atmosphere between old stones and artisan shops, the neighborhood is the natural gathering point before and after concerts.
Le Carrera Café is the unofficial pit stop for the savvy festival-goer. We meet there, recharge, and talk about the world over an espresso tonic or a signature cocktail.
Arrive 90 minutes before the show starts. Settle on the terrace if the weather allows, order an espresso tonic or iced latte, share a board with your group. The evening can begin.
Sparkling and refreshing espresso tonic, creamy iced latte over ice, or signature cocktail with summer flavors: our cold drinks are designed for Festival days. Light, invigorating, perfect before a long night on your feet.
An outdoor concert requires endurance. Our Charlevoix charcuterie boards and Quebec cheeses, accompanied by homemade focaccia, are the best fuel before a night standing on the Plains.
The concert is over. Your ears are still ringing a bit, the adrenaline is there. It’s exactly the right moment for a stop at Carrera Café before heading home.
A signature cocktail to celebrate the evening, a short espresso to keep you going on the way back, or simply to sit for a few minutes in Carrera’s cozy atmosphere to extend the magic. The festival ends on the Plains, but the evening ends here.
The path from the Plains to Petit-Champlain passes in front of Château Frontenac, runs along the Dufferin terrace, and descends towards the cobblestone streets of Lower Old Quebec. A ten-minute walk that is part of the Festival experience.
During the ten days of the Summer Festival, Carrera Café is especially popular at the beginning and end of the evening. We recommend arriving early or booking if you come in a group. The terrace is accessible depending on the weather and availability.
Carrera Café is located in the Petit-Champlain district, accessible from the Plains of Abraham by walking down towards Old Quebec. No need for a car: the walk is part of the fun.
