Most people who drink coffee every day have never understood why some coffees are good and others are not. The answer is almost always the same: the grind, the pressure, and the milk. Three simple elements to understand, difficult to master without guidance. Barista training shortens this path by several years.

For the barista, every gesture has a reason. The way to tamp, the extraction time, the milk temperature: nothing is random. Learning these gestures in a professional environment, with quality equipment and an attentive trainer, is what Carrera Café offers.

The grind. It’s the most important and least understood setting. Too fine: the coffee is bitter and over-extracted. Too coarse: it’s acidic and weak. Finding the ideal grind size for a perfect extraction is the first lesson in the training, and often the most satisfying.

Carrera Café is also a bar. Our mixology training covers the basics of bartending: flavor balance, shaker and mixing glass techniques, revisited classic cocktails, and Carrera signature cocktails. An ideal session for a couple, a group of friends, or an original team building in Quebec City.

Combined coffee and cocktail training

For the undecided, we offer a session that combines both worlds. Espresso in the first part, cocktails in the second. A chance to see how coffee is used in some classic cocktails, like the Espresso Martini or Coffee Negroni.
