Specialty Coffee in Old Quebec
Tucked in the historic streets of Petit-Champlain, Carrera Café brings Italian coffee culture to the heart of Old Quebec. World-class espresso. Local flavours. An atmosphere unlike anywhere else.
Plan My VisitThere are coffee shops, and then there is Carrera Café. Situated in the Petit-Champlain district, one of the oldest commercial streets in North America, Carrera Café occupies a space where centuries of history meet a passion for Italian specialty coffee.
The name is a nod to motorsport, and the atmosphere reflects it: precise, refined, slightly theatrical. Every detail is treated with the attention of a Formula 1 pit crew. Because the details are what separate good from exceptional.
Specialty coffee sourced from top roasters, Italian-trained baristas, locally sourced food from Quebec and Charlevoix, and a location in the most beautiful neighbourhood in Quebec City. Not many cafés can say all four.
The foundation of everything at Carrera. A single or double espresso pulled precisely, with a crema that holds long enough to appreciate. The cortado, equal parts espresso and warm milk, is the barista's handshake to the coffee purist.
In summer, the iced latte poured over large ice cubes with perfectly textured cold milk is smooth and balanced. The espresso tonic, bitter espresso over sparkling tonic water, is refreshing, complex, and completely addictive.
Our signature cocktails, crafted in-house with seasonal ingredients, and our curated wine selection make Carrera equally suited for an afternoon drink or an evening out in the heart of Old Quebec.
Our signature board features Bio de Charlevoix charcuterie, fine Quebec cheeses, house-made focaccia from Boulangerie Borderon et Fils, and seasonal condiments. Generous, beautiful, and deeply satisfying.
Our focaccia, made fresh with premium olive oil, herbs, and a perfectly crispy bottom, is one of the best things you will eat in Quebec City. Available daily while supplies last.
Petit-Champlain is widely considered one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in North America. Its narrow cobblestone streets, stone buildings from the 17th century, and independent boutiques create an atmosphere simultaneously European and unmistakably Quebec.
Easily walkable from most hotels in Old Quebec City. Steps from the funicular at Place Royale. A short walk from the Château Frontenac via the Breakneck Stairs (Escalier Casse-Cou).
Mornings are quieter and ideal for lingering over coffee. Weekend afternoons fill quickly, especially in summer and during events like the Festival d'été de Québec or the Christmas Market.
While Carrera Café is a Quebec establishment through and through, English-speaking visitors are warmly welcomed. The team speaks both languages and is happy to guide you through the menu.
