Who is Fernando Alonso?

Born in Oviedo, Spain in 1981, Fernando Alonso grew up in the world of karting before making his Formula 1 debut in 2001 with the Minardi team. His rise was meteoric: world champion in 2005 and 2006 with Renault, beating the legendary Michael Schumacher along the way, Alonso established himself as one of the most complete drivers in motorsport history. His ability to get the maximum out of a single-seater, regardless of its competitiveness, is legendary in the paddocks.
