The 24 Hours of Le Mans: the ultimate endurance meeting, cup after cup

April 2026 · 5 min read · Carrera Café · The Coffee Journal

It is 3 a.m. on the 24 Hours Road, somewhere between the pits and the Hunaudières straight. The roar of prototypes tears through the Sarthe night. Thousands of kilometers away, at the Carrera Café in Old Quebec, the lights are still on and espressos flow freely. Welcome to the world’s greatest endurance race.

Le Mans, a cathedral of endurance

Since 1923, the city of Le Mans has hosted the most legendary car race every June. Unlike a Formula 1 Grand Prix that lasts barely 90 minutes, the 24 Hours impose a challenge of a completely different nature: enduring the distance, managing wear, crossing the night, and arriving at dawn with a car still able to run. It is a battle as much mechanical as human.

The Sarthe circuit stretches over 13.626 km. It combines sections of public roads and permanent parts, creating a unique track in the world. The long Hunaudières straight, once without chicanes, allowed cars to reach speeds over 400 km/h. Even today, top speeds exceed 340 km/h, making this section one of the most spectacular on the global motorsport calendar.

A race that resembles coffee: complex and rich in emotions

At Carrera Café, we like to compare the 24 Hours of Le Mans to a good cup of specialty coffee. The start is explosive, like an intense espresso that awakens the senses. Night falls and the intensity remains, like the evolving notes of an Ethiopian natural coffee. And dawn arrives, exhausting and magnificent, like the last sip of a carefully prepared long filter coffee.

The annual meeting for motorsport enthusiasts in Quebec

Every year, June becomes a month of motorsport celebration at Carrera Café. The Le Mans race is broadcast continuously, special coffees are prepared for the occasion, and conversations among enthusiasts come alive around standings, strategies, and highlights of the event. Old Quebec, with its cobblestone streets and unique atmosphere, becomes for 24 hours a small enclave of automotive fervor.

Whether you are a knowledgeable enthusiast able to debate the respective merits of the Toyota GR010 and the Ferrari 499P, or simply someone discovering this race for the first time, Carrera Café welcomes you with the same enthusiasm and the same quality coffee. Because in the end, motorsport and specialty coffee share the same philosophy: excellence is not improvised, it is cultivated with passion, day after day, corner after corner.
