Petit-Champlain & Old Quebec
Quebec’s Place Royale: historic heart of the Lower Town and neighbor to Carrera Café
Place Royale is the beating heart of historic Old Quebec. Just 5 minutes from Carrera Café, it’s one of the most history-rich squares in North America.
Place Royale
Place Royale is considered the cradle of French civilization in North America. Samuel de Champlain established the first trading post there in 1608. Today, it’s a public square surrounded by 17th and 18th-century houses, dominated by the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church, one of the oldest in America.
From Carrera Café, Place Royale is a 5-minute walk. It’s the perfect historical outing after your morning espresso.
