The Coffee Journal
The coffee route
From Ethiopia to your cup, passing through Yemen, Venice, and Quebec. A journey of several centuries that transformed the consumption habits of all humanity.
It all started in Ethiopia, in the forests of the Kaffa region. From there, coffee traveled to Yemen in the 15th century, then to Constantinople, Venice, Amsterdam, and the rest of the Western world. A plant that changed the world.
The great origins
Ethiopia: the cradle. Yirgacheffe with floral and fruity notes, Guji with precise citrus, Harrar with wine and blueberry notes.
Kenya: African precision. SL28 and SL34, malic and citric acids. Nyeri and Kirinyaga as absolute references.
Colombia: the Andean consistency. Huila, Nariño, Cauca: three distinct terroirs, one passionate country.
Guatemala: eight official regions, volcanoes at 3000 meters, a unique minerality.
At Carrera Café
Our selection of specialty coffees also traces a path. From Ethiopia to Colombia, from Kenya to Guatemala: each origin tells a story of terroir, a producer, a craft. Come explore this map in Petit Champlain — every cup is a journey.
