The fortifications of Quebec are the only urban fortifications still intact in North America. Built gradually from the 17th to the 19th century, they still surround the Upper Town today over a length of 4.6 km. The walk on the ramparts offers unparalleled views of the Saint Lawrence River and the Lower Town.
