The Origin

World's leading producer

Brazil produces more than a third of the world's coffee. A hegemony built on centuries of know-how, unique geography, and a national passion for coffee.

"Brazilian coffee does not seek to surprise. It seeks to comfort, to envelop, to last. It is the foundation on which the world's greatest blends have been built."

The Terroir

The geography of sweetness

From the Cerrado plateaus to the Mantiqueira forests, Brazil offers a diversity of terroirs that translates in each cup into an unexpectedly rich aromatic palette.

Climate

Natural Factors

Brazil enjoys an ideal geographical position between the tropics, with well-defined dry and wet seasons that favor grouped and mechanized harvesting. The plateaus at 800–1200 meters altitude allow slow cherry maturation.

The red ferralitic soil, rich in minerals and organic matter, gives the beans this deep flavor and velvety texture that make Brazilian coffees famous in international cup competitions.

The Regions

Three circuits, three characters

Like the circuits on the Formula 1 calendar, each Brazilian region has its own character, its straight lines and tight turns. Here are the three must-sees.

Pole Position

Cerrado Mineiro

The first designation of origin in Brazil. Its coffees are known for their creamy sweetness, notes of dark chocolate, and roasted hazelnut.

Podium

Sul de Minas

The most productive region of Brazil. Its coffees are round, balanced, with a mild acidity and sweet notes of caramel and dried fruits.

High Circuit

Serra da Mantiqueira

The highest region of Brazil, where specialty arabicas find their most complex expression. Floral and fruity notes join the Brazilian signature chocolate in the cup. This is where the most prized naturals for competition baristas are grown.

Altitude 1000–1300 m
Varieties Catuaí · Bourbon
Process Natural · Pulped

In the Cup

The Brazilian aromatic profile

Close your eyes, hold the cup with both hands. The first aroma is always there, warm and familiar, like a paddock you return to after a long season.

The Methods

How to reveal Brazil

Each extraction method is a different setup, a fine tuning to get the best from a bean that lends itself to almost everything.

❖ Recommended

Espresso · The Royal Way

Espresso is the natural method for Brazilian coffee. The 9-bar pressure concentrates chocolate and hazelnut aromas, creating a dense and lasting crema. This is where Cerrado Mineiro coffees perform best, round and uncompromising.

Temperature 93–94°C
Extraction 25–30 sec
Ratio 1:2 · 18g/36g
Gentle Method

Filter · The Floral Revelation

In filter extraction, the naturals from Serra da Mantiqueira reveal unexpected facets: delicate floral notes, a light fruity acidity, a surprising length on the palate. The V60 or Chemex allow you to experience Brazil in a new register.

Temperature 92–93°C
Grind Medium-fine
Ratio 1:15 · 15g/225ml
