Yirgacheffe, Huila, Geisha: reading a specialty coffee like a pilot reads a circuit

April 2026 · 5 min read · Carrera Café · The Coffee Journal

A pilot knows every turn of their circuit. A specialty coffee drinker should know every detail of what they drink. Origin, altitude, roasting profile: these are not details. It's the map of the terrain.

The three major origins to know

Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia: at 1700-2200 meters, exceptional floral profile, bergamot and jasmine. Huila, Colombia: sweet and balanced coffees, red fruits and caramel, full body. Geisha, Panama/Ethiopia: one of the rarest and most sought-after beans in the world, floral and fruity profile of rare complexity.

Read the label

Country, altitude, variety, processing method, tasting notes. Read them like an engineer reads their data. At Carrera Café, we choose our beans with this rigor. Also read our article on our coffee philosophy.

COME TASTE AN EXCEPTIONAL COFFEE

At Carrera Café, Petit Champlain, each bean is chosen for its origin. Come discover the current origins and talk about them with our baristas.
