Rolex and Coffee

Rolex and coffee share the same obsession: mastering time. The watchmaker counts tenths of seconds. The roaster counts extraction seconds. Two different disciplines, one same quest for perfection.
Precision as an Absolute Value
Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf with a simple conviction: the watch must be precise. More than any other manufacturer of the time, Rolex pushed the limits of watchmaking precision. This obsession continues today — every Rolex watch is tested for days before leaving the workshop.
The Parallel with Specialty Coffee
A good espresso is a matter of seconds. 25 seconds of extraction, plus or minus a few tenths depending on the roasting profile. Too short: acidic and hollow. Too long: bitter and astringent. The barista who masters their extraction shares something with the watchmaker: the conviction that time, mastered, gives birth to perfection.
At Carrera Café
This is the philosophy that drives our approach. Every extraction is timed, every parameter controlled. Because excellence, whether expressed in a watch or in a cup, leaves nothing to chance.
