Some places are born from an obvious truth. Carrera Café is one of them. At 72 Champlain Boulevard, in the Petit Champlain of Old Quebec, a café-bar opened its doors with a very clear identity: the meeting between the world of motorsport and the art of specialty coffee.

This is not a combination invented by chance. It is the result of a genuine passion for two worlds that have more in common than it seems.

Why motorsport?

Formula 1, endurance racing, rally: these are disciplines that require absolute precision, attention to detail that tolerates no compromise, and a passion that goes beyond mere performance. A Formula 1 driver doesn’t just drive fast. He or she feels every vibration of the chassis, anticipates the car’s reactions, and communicates with engineers in a language of surgical precision.

This demand, this way of being in one’s activity, is what inspired Carrera Café. Not as a decoration, but as a philosophy.

Why specialty coffee?

Specialty coffee is to hot drinks what Formula 1 is to automobiles: the ultimate expression of what can be achieved when no compromises are made on quality. Beans selected for their origin and flavor profile, roasting mastered to the curve, extraction calibrated every morning: it is a discipline in its own right.

At Carrera Café, coffee is not an excuse. It is the heart of everything. We work with Quebec micro-roasters who share this demand, and we take the time to understand each batch we receive before brewing it.

Why Old Quebec?

Petit Champlain is one of the most historically rich and characterful neighborhoods in all of Canada. Champlain Boulevard, at the foot of the cliffs, with the Saint Lawrence River as a backdrop: there aren’t many more beautiful places to open a café.

But beyond the aesthetics, there was a deeper logic. Old Quebec welcomes tourists from around the world, but it first belongs to its residents, to a local community with an intense relationship to its neighborhood. Carrera Café wanted to be part of this continuity: a place for visitors, of course, but above all a place that is part of the living fabric of Petit Champlain.
