The Venetian Spritz and Paddock's Mulled Wine: what to drink at Carrera Café depending on the season

Carrera Café, in Petit Champlain, doesn't just pretend to be a place where you drink well. It's a place where you really drink well. And to be fair to your taste buds depending on the season, here are the two must-have orders: the Venetian Spritz in summer mode, and Paddock's Mulled Wine when the cold sets in over Old Quebec.

The Venetian Spritz: the aperitif for grandstands

Prosecco, Aperol, sparkling water, olive and orange. It's the aperitif of Monza's terraces. Light, festive, unstoppable. We serve it for $14, accompanied by our homemade truffle chips, because every cocktail at Carrera Café comes with something to nibble on.

The Venetian Spritz is the drink for spring and summer evenings on Petit Champlain. The narrowest, most cobblestoned, most European street in Quebec. If you're looking for a place to have a drink on a terrace in Quebec with a view of Old Quebec, you've found it.

Paddock's Mulled Wine: winter comfort

Available in winter. Spices, citrus, comfort. To warm your hands between two timed sessions in the icy streets of Old Quebec. $12, and if you order the sugar pie on the side, the spices of the mulled wine and the caramelized sugar are Quebec winter in one bite.

Carrera Café is one of the few places in Petit Champlain where you can settle in winter, warm drink in hand, and watch the snow fall on Place Royale. If you're looking for mulled wine in Quebec, close to Château Frontenac, this is it.

The Espresso Martini: the bridge between two seasons

Vodka, fresh espresso and coffee liqueur. $15. It's the cocktail that has no season. You order it at midnight in July or at 6pm on a Friday in February. The result is always the same: a martini glass, a dense foam, and the feeling that the evening has just shifted gear.

Ask for the carrot cake on the side. The coffee and the fondant go perfectly together.

Come as you are

Carrera Café is open in Petit Champlain, a stone's throw from the funicular and Place Royale.
